Anyone who has talked to me lately has fallen upon my latest challenge: finding the next “big thing.” I had a momentary glimpse of hope from the M Word during CIL, but her OMG moment didn’t quite fit with what I’m looking for.

So where to go from here? I’ve been blogging since 2001; SJCPL since 2002. IM is old news in my book. I was part of that whole “America Online is the COOLEST!” gen in the mid 90s. Even wikis are becoming old news in SJCPL-land. So what’s next? I know you’re going to say user generated content, and we’re getting there. I’d like to see us going the ACPL route with video. We’re already doing some internal training video stuff, vendor and staff created. To those of you screaming for teens, I have on my to-do list ways to make Save•Point commercials with our regulars. As long as it ends up on YouTube, they’re more than willing to participate. But is this the next big thing? Or just another thing?
