How many of you come into work and have emails in your inbox from patrons that start like this?

It’s at least a couple hours past a reasonable bedtime, so of course I’m sitting up trying to break your blog. It’s getting harder. But I have a couple things to mention.

This is from one of the registered users of the GameBlog. We’ve been emailing back and forth since they registered. Most of the discussion involves usability and functionality, but there is some stylistic chat in there as well. All in all it’s made a better blog and given me a better understanding of what this blog demographic wants.

However, none of this would have happened had it not been for the ability to comment. By doing so, we made a comfortable and accessible atmosphere for our patrons to communicate with us. Both of the bloggers of the GameBlog comment regularly and respond to user comments. This user took the initiative to email me because they knew they would get a response.

There’s been a lot of discussion about putting a name and/or a face on your website. This is just one example of the many benefits of doing just that.
